Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos had a call with his British counterpart David Cameron

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos had a call with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron on Friday, to discuss “ongoing developments in the region”

A brief post on Cyprus’ foreign ministry account on X did not delve into any more details.

The development comes as the UK began using its Akrotiri base on the island earlier in the day to conduct bombing raids in Yemen targeting Houti positions.

The news prompted Cyprus’ government to clarify that Cyprus was not involved in any such military activity.

The comment came from the foreign ministry, hours after Britain confirmed it had used the RAF base at Akrotiri to bomb Houthi positions in Yemen.
