The man accused of setting fire to Paphos’ municipal Christmas tree will remain in custody pending his trial.

The man, aged 39, appeared in court on Thursday to be told of his fate, after having been charged on Wednesday.

Paphos’ municipal Christmas tree had been located in the town’s central Kennedy Square and was set ablaze in the early hours of January 3.

Police successfully apprehended the 39-year-old three days later.
