The first phase of the construction of the Peyia coastal promenade has been completed it was announced on Tuesday.
Urban equipment and lighting were placed all along the project, while a pedestrian bridge connecting the promenade to the future Paphos Marina will be erected between the banks of the Xeros River.
The works are to include the creation of a pedestrian/bicycle path, sports areas, squares and seating areas, playgrounds, and landscaping of green spaces, composing a linear multifunctional park, according to the municipality.
The aim of the project is to create a walking, sports and recreation area along the already developed sections of the Peyia beach front and organised beach access for the residents and visitors.
The coastal promenade extends from the boundaries of Peyia and Kissonerga all the way to the entrance of Akamas.
The contract amount of the first phase exceeded €2.5mln euros. The project was co-financed at 2/3 by the Department of Urban Planning and Housing via the Ministry of the Interior and 1/3 from Peyia Municipality funds.
