Seven people were arrested in Ayia Napa for drug possession, unlawful employment, and illegal residence over the weekend, police said.

The arrests were part of an effort by the Famagusta police department “to prevent and suppress crime and all forms of delinquency.”

During the crackdown, police checked 46 properties and stopped 25 vehicles.

Two people were arrested for possessing drugs, and two others for illegal employment. Additionally, three persons residing illegally in the Republic were detained, with deportation orders pending.

Further checks by police found five properties operating without the necessary tourism, alcohol, or broadcasting licenses.

Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodoulou said that such operations would continue throughout the summer.
