Temperatures on Friday are set to reach a whopping 42 degrees Celsius inland, making the day a veritable scorcher.

Temperatures on the coasts will be slightly lower, rising only to 34 degrees Celsius on the west coast, and 37 degrees Celsius on the rest of the coasts, while the mercury will rise to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius in the mountains.

In the mountains, the hot weather may turn into isolated rain and even the odd storm.

Overnight, the skies will remain clear, with temperatures set to drop to 24 degrees Celsius on the west coast, 25 degrees Celsius inland and on the rest of the coasts, and 21 degrees Celsius in the mountains.

Clear blue skies, searing temperatures, and the odd storm in the mountains will persist through the weekend and Monday, with temperatures set to remain at their current high levels.
