A post-mortem was performed on Monday on the six-year-old girl who died in her sleep in Paphos last week, however the exact cause of death will be determined by the results of tests on samples from the girl’s body.

The autopsy was performed at the Nicosia general hospital by medical examiners Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.

Paphos police are investigating the sudden death of the six-year-old girl, who was living in Paphos with her parents.

The little girl had suffered various health problems since birth.

On July 17, she underwent a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy at Paphos general hospital from where she was discharged at noon the following day.

At some point she lay down after she had returned home and fell asleep, without ever waking up again.

The child was transferred on Thursday evening to the hospital’s A&E department where the doctors on duty established her death.

Police investigations did not produce any suspicion of foul play.
