Paphos police arrested four people on Tuesday in possession of illegal drugs and driving under the influence.

According to the police shortly before 7pm officers on patrol spotted a pedestrian in Geroskipou acting suspiciously. They identified the 34-year-old man and found him in possession of cannabis whereupon he was arrested. The 34-year-old was later re-arrested under a pending judicial arrest warrant for which he had failed to appear at the Paphos District Court.

In a second case on shortly after 11pm, officers patrolling the Chlorakas area stopped a vehicle in which two persons, 25 and 30, were riding. In a search which followed, they found the 25-year-old driver in possession of cannabis-type drugs, and the 30-year-old with 1.25g of methamphetamine.

The 25-year-old allegedly tested positive for a drug test to which he was subjected. The 30-year-old was also arrested for outstanding warrants against him and taken into custody.

In a third case, shortly before midnight on Priamou Street police stopped a car with four people aged 22, 24, 25 and 27. Following checks the officers established the 27-year-old driver did not have a license, nor insurance. Police found cannabis in the vehicle, which the 27-year-old driver allegedly admitted to possessing.

He was also found positive in a drug test. The offender was handed over the the drug squad (Ykan), charged in writing and released, pending summons to court.
