Police in Limassol on Monday are investigating a case of assault with serious bodily harm after a fight broke out between employees at a Limassol fast-food restaurant.

According to the police, around 7pm they received the information that two people had been injured in a fight in Germasogeia.

Officers arrived onsite and the two injured men were taken by ambulance to Limassol general hospital.

Police investigations established that the case concerned two foreign employees, aged 22 and 32.

According to testimony, the 22-year-old, for reasons yet unclarified, attacked his co-worker with a chair, hitting him on the head. The 32-year-old in turn allegedly got a knife and a wooden item from the kitchen and returned the assault.

The 22-year-old suffered a fractured left arm and will undergo surgery while the 32-year-old suffered a gash and was discharged after being stitched up.

Investigations further revealed that the 22-year-old had been residing illegally in Cyprus, as his asylum request had been rejected. He is also alleged to have presented false information about residence and employment.

Police secured arrest warrants against the two and the 32-year-old has already been arrested. When questioned, he made some allegations, which are being investigated.
