Protaras and Paralimni are at their busiest this week. Restaurants are full, beaches are packed and bars are entertaining. You either love it or you hate it. For those brave enough to go with the crowds and enjoy the best of what the region has to offer – and truth be told, that’s plenty – a series of live music and party events are on in Protaras this weekend.

First up is the highly-anticipated Music Element, a packed electronic music party not for the faint-hearted. Happening just twice a year, this is a popular event with nearly sold-out tickets each time. DJs get up on stage as early as 5.30pm as the crowds gather and the atmosphere builds up throughout the evening as a line-up of DJs play techno, EDM and electronic music. Fireworks, festival-themed make-up, cocktails and an impressive and massive lights stage add to the party mood. As the event is held in a residential area, Ayia Triada Beach, the party ends around midnight.

Kalifi Beach Bar has prepared a line-up of music nights to celebrate the mid-August holidays. On Thursday, Vasilis Dimas will perform Greek music live while DJ Andre is on the decks. On Friday, Aimili Charalambous will present a set mixing Greek and international songs, while on Saturday, Christina Ralli will sing Greek songs live. To end the week, DJ Andre will take over the decks once again on Sunday.

Serena Beach Restaurant has also planned an exciting music line-up for this week to put its guests in a total summer party mood. Every day, different DJs will play live to uplift the mood with a special live performance by Hovig on Saturday.

And because the holiday season continues into the following week as well, more music happenings will take place in Protaras. An acoustic music performance under the full moon will take place on Monday hosted by the Paralimni-Derynia Municipality. Setting up at the square after Fig Tree Bay and in front of Nausica Hotel, three musicians will perform live and for free. Zena Melekki will be on piano, Irene Pelagia on the violin and Marios Stylianou on cello, making up the ‘Araxe je Akou’ event.
