Members of the public flocked to the mountains to enjoy the August 15 holiday on Thursday, as the forestry department reported that plenty of camping sites were packed at full capacity.

Troodos

In Troodos, the sites in Platania, Kambos tou Livadiou and Gefiri Panayias were all full.

There is however availability in the following sites. Mesa Potamos is at 90 per cent capacity as is Trooditissa and Xiliatos dam, while Pasia Livadi is at 80 per cent.

Prodromos dam and Marathos are at 70 per cent, Xerarkaka (50 per cent), Kambi tou Kalogirou (40 per cent), Armirolivado (30 per cent), Ayia Paraskevi (30 per cent), Kakomallis (30 per cent), Kapoura (15 per cent) and Asinou (0 per cent).

Paphos

In Paphos, camping sites in Timis, Komititzis, Xystaroudas, Mavralis and Smigies are full.

There is some availability in sites where capacity is not yet at 100 per cent, such as Pikni (60 per cent), Monasilaka (30 per cent).

In Ayia, Stavros Psokas, Livadi, Ayios Merkourios, Randi and Pera Vasas, capacity is less than 20 per cent.

Nicosia, Larnaca, Famagusta

According to the forestry department, sites which fall under forest land in Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta which are full are Mantra tou Kambiou, Kionia and Ayioi Anargyrou.

Delikipos was at 30 per cent capacity, while Kornos, Ayios Antonios, Ayios Nikandros, Oroklini, Dasaki Achnas, Rizoelia national forest park, Ayios Georgiou Athalassas, Athalassas and Dasaki Achnas were less than 20 per cent full.
