The appeals court on Wednesday ordered three doctors to more than double their payments to a woman who was awarded €1.3 million plus interest and expenses in compensation for medical negligence.
The three doctors had each been paying €2,000 per month to the women, whose health had been seriously affected by the negligence.
But she then appealed the Limassol court decision, saying the monthly amounts were too low.
The appeals court ordered one doctor to increase his payment to €5,000 and the other two to €4,000 each.
The Limassol court had ruled on July 27, 2016, in favour of the woman and on August 7, 2018, had ordered she be compensated, with monthly installments commencing on September 1, 2018.
The Limassol court had taken into account the doctors’ personal, family and social needs, however the amount the doctors were ordered to pay was deemed low, taking into account their income.
The appeals court also ordered the doctors to pay €5,400 plus VAT in costs.
