A motorcyclist was hospitalised in serious condition on Friday after an accident involving a car in the Mouttallos area of Paphos.

According to police, the accident happened shortly before 6pm on Thursday when, in circumstances under investigation, the 27-year-old motorcycle driver collided with a 33-year-old woman driving her car on Ibrahim Street.

The motorcycle overturned as a result of the crash, flinging both driver and vehicle into the yard of an adjacent residence.

The 27-year-old was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to the Paphos hospital emergency department, where he was diagnosed with head trauma, pelvic fracture, rib fracture, fracture to his right leg, and a lung injury.

The condition of the 27-year-old is described as serious but out of danger.

Police established that the man, a permanent resident of Paphos, had been driving the motorcycle without a licence, insurance, or registration. Police have not determined if he was wearing the helmet found at the scene.

Both drivers were tested for alcohol with negative result.
