A free concert is coming up in the capital organised by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation and the Friends of Nicosia. Mark your calendars for September 20 and head to Eleftheria Square for an evening of classical music by some of the island’s most esteemed musicians.
Expect “a magical music feast in the heart of Lefkosia, beneath the Venetian walls,” say organisers. “Enjoy vibrant popular classical and romantic pieces, as well as orchestrated songs by Manos Hadjidakis, directed by the talented Cypriot maestro Kyriaki Kountouri.”
The concert is part of the orchestra’s Orchestra 4 All concert series and one of the many performances it will host in the autumn months. Starting at 8pm, a classical music repertoire will unfold including compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn, Antonín Dvořák, Emmanuel Chabrier, Ottorino Respighi, Leonard Bernstein and Manos Hadjidakis. For those who cannot attend the concert in person, the event will also be broadcast live on CyBC1 television channel.
