Police in Paphos are investigating two incidents of fires being started in the village of Prodromi, one in a car and one in a shed, Paphos police’s assistant operations director Michalis Nikolaou said on Wednesday.
Both fires broke out on Tuesday, with the first seeing a car which was parked in the village catch fire at around 5pm.
Nikolaou told the Cyprus News Agency the car belonged to a 38-year-old man who normally resides in Limassol and was thus parked in the village temporarily.
He said the fire was extinguished by the fire brigade, but not before it could damage the front of the vehicle on its right-hand side.
Experts from the fire brigade and the electromechanical service are expected to travel to the village on Wednesday to determine the cause of the fire.
The second fire broke out at around 8.30pm in a livestock shed which belongs to a 30-year-old man.
The shed, which was made of wood and metal, was completely destroyed, but fortunately, no animals were harmed in the fire.
The remains of the shed will also be examined on Wednesday to determine the cause of the fire.
