Port police rescued a British couple in Limassol from the sea on Sunday, after the pair fought.

The couple, a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, had an argument, which led the woman to enter the sea to swim away from her partner.

The man called the police as he saw the woman get far away from the shoreline.

Police arrived at the scene to find the man swimming to try and reach his partner. Port police came to the scene where they found the two tourists screaming for help.

A small inflatable was launched from the port police, which approached the couple and helped them get on.

The pair were taken to the small dock of the hotel they were staying at. Police also brought their personal items.

Police said that the couple thanked them and apologised for the incident.
