Finikoudes seafront in Larnaca is getting a permanent police presence, with an information kiosk and foot patrol officers, to crack down on crime and increase the sense of safety among residents and visitors.

The kiosk will be installed on the Finikoudes promenade and will be staffed by police officers, who will provide information to the public.

The decision was taken on Wednesday at a meeting at police headquarters in Nicosia between Larnaca mayor Andreas Vyras and chief of police Themistos Arnaoutis, along with their delegations, after recent incidents along the iconic promenade.

Vyras outlined the problems caused by delinquent behaviour along Finikoudes and stressed the need for immediate action to restore the sense of security in the area.

They agreed to set up a second meeting with all parties involved, including the deputy ministries for welfare and migration, to find permanent solutions.
