Taking place in Cairo, Egypt, over November 4–8, 2024, the United Nations’ World Urban Forum is bringing together world leaders and individuals who influence future policy on sustainable urbanisation. Among the invited speakers is Cypriot pioneer, Dr Natasa Christou, architect and co-founder of Gardens of the Future.

Organised by UN-Habitat, the World Urban Forum (WUF) is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Established in 2001 by the UN, the Forum addresses one of today’s most urgent challenges: rapid urbanisation and its impact on cities, communities, economies, climate change and policies. This year’s theme is, “It All Starts at Home: Local Action for Sustainable Cities and Communities”.

Connecting both the global and Cypriot perspectives, Dr Natasa Christou will give a keynote speech at the Forum this Thursday.

“My invitation to participate as a keynote speaker,” she says, “is initiated by a global alliance we have as Gardens of the Future, to contribute to the global urban ‘Green Transition’ at the human scale, connecting communities of practice across the world under a united manifesto.”

This opportunity comes via the Good Enough Transformation Project, a global cultural alliance that Dr Christou has built with her Gardens of the Future community project.

In addition, CARDIMED, a Horizon Europe project focused on advancing climate resilience in the Mediterranean region, also supports the participation of Gardens of the Future in the Good Enough Transformation session of this year’s WUF.
