The launch of the ninth global #MedSafetyWeek campaign was announced on Tuesday by the Pharmaceutical Services, which are participating in the campaign as one of the 107 partner organisations from 94 countries.

This year’s campaign, from November 4 to 10, focuses on the importance of both the proper use of medicines and reporting negative incidents.

Everyone can help promote the campaign’s message by using the #MedSafetyWeek hashtag and sharing posts by the Pharmaceutical Services on social media.

All pharmacovigilance authorities have reporting systems in place to monitor the safety of medicines in order to obtain more information on known side effects and highlight new safety issues, which can lead to warnings and changes in how a medicine is used.

In Cyprus, suspected adverse reactions can be reported by healthcare professionals, patients and patient carers through the national Yellow Card reporting system.

All reports received through the Yellow Card system are subject to a thorough review and evaluation to determine the appropriate actions and measures to protect the population.
