A 41-year-old man wanted in Limassol for kidnapping was arrested on Friday in Paphos after a police chase.

Paphos police deputy operations manager Michalis Nicolaou said police received a tipoff at around 4pm that a foreigner, aged 41, who was wanted for kidnapping with the intention of murder and other offences committed between October 4 and 6 in Limassol, was sighted in a car with other people in Kato Paphos.

Police found two foreigners aged 27 and 21 in the car and arrested them for insufficient identification and resistance during arrest.

The 41-year-old was found in a nearby shop and fled.

He was chased by police officers who, after a long distance, fired shots into the air and then managed to arrest him.

The suspect was found with 1 gramme of a white substance, believed to be cocaine, in his possession.

Police are investigating the case.
