It is almost time for dance to take centre stage. The 24th edition of the Cyprus Choreography Platform is coming up on November 15, 16 and 17, filling the Rialto Theatre with outstanding dance works. The Platform has been instrumental in fostering the growth and advancement of contemporary dance on the island.
Drawing on the talents of dozens of choreographers, hundreds of dancers and other creative contributors, the platform has introduced the public to hundreds of new works of contemporary choreography, providing Cypriot creators with the opportunity to showcase their work and talent.
The 11 choreographers, selected to participate this year, together with their collaborators, are in the final stages of preparations for premiering their latest works.
Opening the 24th edition is White. Noise. by Panayiotis Tofi next Friday, followed by No I’m Not by Panos Malactos and Episodes by Maria Gerasimou (Diversity Dance Company). Konstantina Skalionta’s piece Side Effects will wrap up day one’s performances.
Another four productions will be presented in the second evening. They are Body of Infinite Voices by Alexandra Waierstall, The Lullaby of Horses by Styliana Apostolou, O2 by Ivi Hadjivassiliou and Reading the Performance and Performing the Book by Lia Haraki.
On Sunday, three final choreographic pieces will take the stage. First will be Maria Kasapi’s Loop, then Don’t You Just Love Melting? by Melina Sophocleous and finally, Orgasm by Harry Koushos.
Tickets are already available from Rialto Theatre’s website and entrance is free for dancers and choreographers given that they reserve their seats.
