Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou is travelling to Brussels on Sunday, to participate in the Council of Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers of the European Union (EU), which will take place on November 18, 2024.
The agriculture ministry said in a press release that the situation of agricultural markets and commodities is among the main topics on the agenda. The statement said that “the Ministers of Agriculture will discuss issues related to the current situation of agricultural markets and commodities, with particular reference to the effects of the ongoing invasion of Ukraine, as well as the effects of the climate crisis, with the Minister listing the proposals of Cyprus for more effective support of farmers”.
“Furthermore, in the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministers will exchange their views on the 2025 fishing opportunities in the Atlantic and the North Sea and in the Mediterranean and the Black Seas, so that they lay the ground for the December Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting,” it added.
Panayiotou returns to Cyprus on Tuesday, November 19.
