Problems have arisen with the state healthcare system’s data platform, information technology director Marios Tziakouris said on Wednesday.
Sporadic problems have been noticed in the Gesy (state healthcare) system over the past few days which prompted the insurance organisation (HIO) to take the issue to the system’s provider, he told the CyBC.
“The system had been working very well since its introduction in 2019 and we are troubled by these problems which involve the system going down or delays of up to 20 seconds,” Tziakouris said.
“Doctors and patients ought not to be inconvenienced by such delays in the system,” he said, adding that the HIO directors and the council had promptly taken up the matter with the providing company and that, as of early on Wednesday, there “seemed to be” an improvement.
The provider is under contract with the HIO for monitoring the platform’s delivery and functioning until 2026, Tziakouris said.
The problem could be in part be clocked up to a “change in the composition of the provider’s team which however was no excuse”, he added.
