Ready to welcome the festive spirit of the season, the AG Leventis Gallery marks the occasion with a  Christmas event on December 7 for old and young. A whole day of experiences and activities is planned, filled with art, entertainment, Christmas crafts and creative activities.

The day’s programme begins with a special guided tour at 10.30am in Greek exploring The Nativity in European Art. The Leventis Gallery staff will bring the magic of Christmas to life with a unique tour of the gallery’s collections and artworks depicting the story of Nativity. Another tour will take place an hour later as part of the temporary exhibition Kanthos: At the Crossroads of History, also in Greek.

Throughout the morning an educational programme for young visitors will take place including a humorous Christmas workshop in English. A little after the Greek workshop begins at 10.15am, the English workshop The Return of the Goblins will kick off at 10.45am, led by storyteller/theatre educator Marina Katsari and educator Rebekka Katsari. Inspired by the gallery’s paintings, an interactive storytelling session will enchant children. This is suitable for ages five to seven and costs €10.

Two live music performances will add to the day’s festive atmosphere. The children of Music Puzzle music school will perform Christmas melodies at 2.30pm while at 3.30pm the Sticky Breed Band will bring their playful melodies to the gallery.

“Admission is free for everyone,” says the gallery. “Join us to celebrate the magic of the season and the history of art!”
