Nicosia police were on Monday investigating a case of attempted murder after four people were injured in an attack.

According to police, the attack happened around 2.30am in Strovolos when five or six men reportedly entered a house and assaulted its six occupants with crowbars, knives and axes.

They injured four, aged 17, 21, 24 and 44, were taken to Nicosia General Hospital and admitted for treatment, while the perpetrators fled.

The condition of the victims is considered serious but out of danger. They suffered wounding of various types, doctors said.

Nicosia CID conducted investigations at the scene and collected evidence.

The five men are now being sought.
