Heralded by the BBC as the Van Cliburn of today, Alexander Kobrin has placed himself at the forefront of the performing musicians in today’s international music scene. The legendary First Prize winner of such prestigious piano competitions as the Van Cliburn, the Busoni, the Hamamatsu and the Glasgow, the acclaimed pianist is coming to Cyprus to perform in Nicosia for the first time. Presented by the Pharos Arts Foundation, he will host a special concert at The Shoe Factory on December 13.
“Throughout his career, he has been an active guest soloist with the world’s leading orchestras, and he has appeared at the most prestigious halls worldwide. His performances have been praised for their brilliant technique, musicality and emotional engagement with the audience,” organisers say.
Kobrin has performed with the world’s greatest orchestras and appeared in recitals at major halls worldwide. The musician has also released recordings on the Harmonia Mundi, Quartz, and Centaur labels, covering a wide scope of the piano literature, to critical acclaim. In 2017, he joined the faculty of the renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York sharing his passion for music with students.
In just a few days, he will share his passion and talent with Nicosia audiences as well, playing a repertoire that will feature works by Beethoven, Chopin and Schubert.
