Several people were trapped in elevators on Monday afternoon during a power cut affecting areas in Larnaca.
The fire department said it received “a large number of calls” from people stuck in elevators.
The power outage, affecting certain areas in the Larnaca and Famagusta districts, happened shortly after 3pm.
According to the Transmission System Operator, a malfunction caused the loss of about 45 megawatts of power from the system.
Crews of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus were working on restoring power the soonest possible.
