Individuals with vitamin D deficiency will be able to obtain supplements through Gesy from pharmacies, the Health Insurance Organisation (Hio) announced on Wednesday.
To date, the supplement has been available for private purchase without Gesy contributions.
Starting December 5, this has now changed, the Hio said.
Reimbursed vitamin D will be available for thalassemia patients, individuals with osteoporosis receiving treatment and patients requiring steroid treatment for at least six months with a dosage equal to at least 7.5mg of prednisolone.
Specific packages which are now included in Gesy are Vitamin D3 (X-D3) 1000IU in pill format, and Vitamin D3 (NATURAL SIPS+VITAMIN D3) 5000IU in capsules.
