The New Year will find RMHC® Cyprus with a renewed commitment of solidarity, while, until the last day of 2024, the “House” will continue to fulfill its mission, offering free hospitality, food and support to families of children hospitalised at Makarios Hospital and other medical centres in Nicosia.

Since its opening in September 2022, the Ronald McDonald House in Cyprus has hosted over 500 families, offering more than 6,000 nights of hospitality. The longest length of stay reached three months, confirming the need for a “Home away from home”. In addition, thanks to RMHC Cyprus’ assistance, more than 20 families found a warm home abroad.

These two years have been full of actions and initiatives, thanks to the continuous sponsorships and valuable assistance of volunteers. Friends and supporters of RMHC Cyprus organised charity events, companies participated as sponsors, while volunteers, young and old, offered free services for the Home’s operation. This progress was marked recently with a big party honouring the Ronald McDonald House’s two years, attended by Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinides, as well as other distinguished guests.

This year, RMHC Cyprus also proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of the founding of RMHC, a non-profit organisation that, since 1974, has been supporting thousands of families around the world. The establishment of the first Ronald McDonald House by Dr Audrey Evans was inspired by a vision of a place that would not just be a guest house, but a true home, full of love and warmth.
