A 41-year-old man from Georgia, wanted by the Greek authorities, was arrested on Thursday evening by members of Limassol’s bicycle police patrol.

He was remanded in custody until January 2 at Limassol district court.

Police said a European arrest warrant was pending against the man for attempted theft in Thessaloniki.

The 41-year-old had been tried in absentia and given a prison sentence of five years and 11 months in November.

The man was seen on Thursday walking in Ayia Zoni, Limassol, and was subsequently arrested.
