The 26-year-old Polish man found dead in the elevator shaft of a building under construction in Kissonerga was killed by multiple injuries after a fall from a height.

The conclusions were reached after a post-mortem on Thursday by forensic pathologist Nicolas Charalambous.

The dead man was found at the bottom of an elevator shaft in the incomplete two-story building last Saturday.

Work on the site was suspended after a check by the labour inspection department found some safety measures were not being adhered to.

Authorities are examining the possibility of imposing an extrajudicial fine on the contractor.

Police said previously the 26-year-old was found with a bag of burglary tools.

On the second floor of the construction site from which he fell, cut cables and copper pipes were found by police examining the scene.
