A 48-year-old police officer, named as Sotiris Konstantinou, died overnight on Wednesday while on duty.
According to the police announcement, Konstantinou had been driving an official vehicle on Makarios Avenue in Larnaca, at around 8.50pm, in the direction of the city center from the port, accompanied by his colleague.
The 48-year-old was seized by intense chest pain and stopped the car in the left lane of the road.
