A man is in a critical condition after being run over by a lorry while walking on the old road linking Limassol and Nicosia near the village of Moni, the police said on Thursday.

The police said the man was run over at around 6pm on Wednesday and that his identity is not yet known.

He was taken by ambulance to the Limassol general hospital, where doctors determined that he had suffered an injury to his head.

He was then transferred to the Nicosia general hospital due to the seriousness of his condition and underwent surgery.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
