Kurds in Cyprus participated in a protest in Nicosia on Sunday, demanding the termination of Turkey’s offensive against Rojava in north Syria, and stressing the need for the international community to adopt a joint position towards Turkey.
Kurds from all over Cyprus responded to a call by a delegation of the Syrian Party of Democratic Union (PYD) in Cyprus, and marched from Ledra street, in the capital’s center, to the EU House, asking for the EU’s intervention with a view to stop Turkey’s aerial bombing against Rojava and the attacks by Islamic militant groups.
Lambros Kallenos, member of the Kurdish Cultural Center in Cyprus, told CNA that the Kurds want to obtain Syrian citizenship and are claiming the right to be represented in the country’s government.
