A 50-year-old was arrested on Sunday night in Limassol for attempting to steal copper wires from a photovoltaic park in Kouka village and causing damage estimated at €12,000.
Police said the contractor reported that unknown people had illegally entered the site and tried to steal 120m of copper wire, causing damage in the attempt.
Later on, Platres police noticed a suspicious vehicle without number plates in Trimiklini village, similar to the one reported leaving the PV park.
Police found wire cutters, gloves, a mask and a head torch in the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested and placed in custody to facilitate police investigations.
