Another weekend is on its way. Here are some of the most entertaining ways to fill your Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you are a comedy lover or looking for a show in English – those are a bit harder to find – you are in for a treat as a comedian travelling from abroad presents a series of events.
Romanian comedian Victor Patrascan is currently on tour making global audiences laugh with his Stand up Comedy in Broken English show. As he makes a Cyprus stop, he presents his set in Paphos, Limassol and Nicosia.
First up is the Paphos show, tonight at Attikon Multicultural Space. Then it is Limassol audiences who will see Patrascan live at Lanitio Theatre on Friday before Nicosia crowds (across the divide) enjoy the show. Pantheon Theatre will host the comic first on Saturday evening, followed by a performance at Rustem Bookshop. All of the shows will be English and warn that they are not for the easily offended. Joining Patrascan on stage is local actor and comedian Giorgos Kyriakou.
Another show making the rounds in Cyprus’ major cities this weekend is the circus show Alice in Wonderland. With exquisite costumes, detailed set design, exciting music and a talented cast of artists, the show brings to life the colourful and peculiar tale of Alice as she falls down the rabbit hole. There, she meets the Mad Hatter, Chesire Cat and the Queen.

Five shows in three cities are on this week, all but one in English. The only Greek circus show of the week is on Sunday in Limassol at 3pm. The performances begin today with a show in Paphos at 6pm. Then, they travel to Nicosia for two shows on Saturday (at 2.30pm and 6pm) and end on Sunday with a 3pm and a 6pm show in Limassol.
Limassol has another exciting event this weekend – an urban art intervention. Light Points is a contemporary art event by Ypogeia Skini this Sunday evening, taking the public on a walk through Limassol’s streets to illuminate its stories. The walking route will stop at selected historical and cultural heritage sites to highlight forgotten stories and their significance in these specific locations. It is free to attend and in Greek.
For a dose of music by the island’s creatives, two events stand out. One is Eleonora Roussou’s concert in Nicosia as she presents her debut album, Joy. Taking the stage of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre with esteemed musicians from the Cypriot music scene, her concert is part of the 5th Nicosia International Festival, presenting an evening of heartfelt music.
In Limassol, George Kalopedis and the JAZZ Syndicate will pay tribute to jazz and swing tunes from the 20s to the 70s. Foot-tapping music and head-bopping rhythms will fill the Limassol Music Hall this Sunday, wrapping up another eventful week.
