Cyprus Public Transport (CPT) celebrated its commitment to safety and excellence by presenting the Company’s 2024 Outstanding Staff Awards at a prestigious ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel on February 3, 2025.

The platinum award in the category of Safe Drivers Awards was the highest, with the awarded drivers having been driving for eight hours a day for four consecutive years without a single accident.

These awards highlight CPT’s dedication to creating a safe and efficient public transport system in Nicosia and Larnaca, and recognise the Company’s efforts in maintaining a safe working environment, fostering a strong safety culture, and continuously improving its services.

The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades. “Today we recognise and honour their dedication, patience and professional consciousness,” said Minister Vafeades in his address, praising CPT’s people. “At a time when challenges are many, the Company’s staff remain steadfast and dedicated to their task, offering their services with courtesy and professionalism,” he added.

“Nevertheless, we should not overlook the difficulties faced by industry’s professionals,” he continued. “The lack of young people in the profession is a serious problem, and attracting new professionals is essential for the continued smooth operation of public transport.”

Awards were thereafter presented to the honorees by Minister Vafeades, CPT Chairman Felipe Cosmen and the Company’s CEO Julio Tironi.

In addition to the kudos for Safe Drivers, Advanced Drivers and Master Technicians, awards intertwined with the values of Cyprus Public Transport, such as “Excellence in Customer Service”, “Making a Difference”, “Team Player”, and others, were presented by CPT’s collaborating companies: Cyta business, EKO Cyprus, Hellenic Bank, Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd and PWC.
