Europa Nostra, the leading European movement for the protection of cultural heritage, is inaugurating a Heritage Hub in Nicosia later this month, to serve as a regional cultural meeting point.

Choosing Cyprus to host the hub is considered to be of strategic importance, as the island is historically a crossroads of civilisation between Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

The hub, made possible on the island by Europa Nostra, the University of Cyprus, Nicosia municipality, the Leventis Foundation and the Cyprus Institute, gathers 19 partners from across Europe to protect cultural heritage.

The opening will be held at the University of Cyprus on February 27, in the presence of prominent personalities.

A public forum will be held on February 28 at the Cyprus Institute on participation in preserving cultural heritage, supported by the embassies of France and Italy, as well as Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.
