Concerts for toddlers, concerts for classical music enthusiasts, extravagant markets with installations and performers, film screenings and carnival celebrations are all happening this weekend. Adults, children, teens and anyone in between will find something to do this Friday, Saturday and Sunday as Cyprus prepares for a long weekend with Green Monday just around the corner.
On Friday, the annual exhibition LefkArt VII opens at the Larnaca Archives – Phoivos Stavrides as part of the programme The Lefkara Embroidery – Source of Inspiration. Organised by the Larnaca Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth and Larnaca Archives, the exhibition features school children’s creations based on the idea of Lefkara embroidery.
A total of 25 students from 18 schools and educational institutions from all districts of Cyprus have participated this year. The exhibition will remain open until March 21.
This weekend also has several live music concerts up its sleeve. In Nicosia, the popular Greek singer Kostis Maraveyas will perform live on Friday at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. Just a few tickets are left for an evening that promises to be full of love.

Over at The Shoe Factory in downtown Nicosia, the Amatis Trio, a leading international piano trio, will travel to Cyprus for a concert on Friday evening. Presented by the Pharos Arts Foundation and supported by the Embassy of Austria in Cyprus, the concert will feature masterful performances of classical music. More specifically, the evening’s repertoire will include Schubert’s first piano trio, Mendelssohn’s second piano trio and the evocative work Moorlands by Swedish composer Andrea Tarrodi, which was specially written for the Amatis Trio.
On Saturday, the dynamic funk band, the Funky Grannis will perform live in Limassol, at the Music Hall. Their 8pm performance will feature a rich repertoire made up of beloved hits that audiences have loved throughout the decades, reimagined in the band’s signature sound.
Also happening in Limassol is the Cyberness Carnival Market on Sunday at Kolla Culture Factory. From 4pm this will be a large-scale market with not only 100 vendors but DJs, performances, installations, workshops, a food court and a costume competition because, after all, it is carnival weekend!
Meanwhile, the Limassol Carnival Sunday Parade will happen on Makarios Avenue from noon until late in the evening. Afterwards, the party will head to the Old Port Square where the fiesta vibes will continue with a closing party by the municipality. DJs, cocktail bars and a crazy mask competition will entertain the crowds until late evening.
Nicosia too will get dressed in carnival vibes with several bars and venues hosting carnival celebrations. In the heart of the old town, Palaia Pineza bar will have its annual carnival party on Sunday with DJs 2Loud and Professor on the decks.

In Larnaca, a carnival concert for toddlers and children is organised this Saturday with two show times. The Tiny Tunes concert is a performance specifically designed for babies aged up to five, accompanied by an adult.
Maria Kramvi on percussions and interactive activities and Kyriakos Costa on the piano will entertain families, creating a tiny orchestra. The concert will be held on Saturday morning at the Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth in Larnaca. The 10am concert is sold out yet a few seats remain for the 11.30am concert.
Lastly, back in Nicosia, STYX Film Encounters presents its first of many Sunday screenings. This Sunday at 5.30pm at Pantheon Cinema, the film Belle de Jour will be screened, followed by a discussion, as part of a weekly event series showcasing significant films. This month’s focus is intricate love stories in the cinema world and plenty more evenings are on the horizon. This is just a snippet of what’s on this weekend and best of all, they are followed by a public holiday. Happy carnival weekend and Green Monday to all!
