The Cyprus Informatics Association, with XM as a tech partner, will hold the FIRST® LEGO® League later this month, in which 50 teams and 230 children will participate.

XM supports the annual activities of the Cyprus Informatics Association, enhancing technology education and digital skills development.

On March 15, 2025, 50 teams and 230 children will participate in the FIRST® LEGO® League, the world’s largest robotics league, offering children aged 4-16 the chance to take part in a unique festival where they will learn, collaborate and have fun.

The event will be addressed by Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Research and Innovation Foundation, Dimitris Skouridis. Dr Elena Hadjikakou, Director of the Pedagogical Institute, will deliver a message on behalf of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth.

Thereafter, the winning teams of the FLL Challenge will represent Cyprus in two international FIRST® LEGO® League tournaments in America and Greece. Also, one team will participate in a similar global competition in America.

This year’s event, entitled “Submerged”, will see students from kindergarten, primary school, middle school, high school and technical schools explore the ocean via creative robotics missions.

FLL Cyprus 2025 includes three projects, targeting the following age categories:

  • FLL Discover (event/expo): 4-6 years old
  • FLL Explore (event/expo): 6-10 years old
  • FLL Challenge (contest): 9-16 years old

In addition to the robotics activities, the event will include group activities and fun activities for participants and visitors, all linked to its oceanic theme.
