A 50-year-old Larnaca resident is to appear before the Nicosia district court on Friday for a case of cannabis possession.

Officers from the drug squad (Ykan) arrested him at around 7.30pm on Thursday night after he was caught driving with two kilos of the drug in Nicosia.

During the search of his car, police found the packaged cannabis, three grams separately, and a mobile phone, all of which were seized.

 A search of his apartment in Larnaca turned up a small quantity of cannabis which was also seized.

The suspect was arrested for the evident offence of possession of illegal drugs, and taken into custody, while a remand order is expected to be issued.

Nicosia police are furthering the case.
