Severe weather conditions have swept across Paphos province since Wednesday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall and powerful winds. In Kissonerga, the storm caused significant disruption, with a large cypress tree, approximately 15 metres tall, uprooted on the road near the old cemetery.

The fallen tree dragged down power cables, leaving the area without electricity. Local crews from the municipality of Peyia quickly responded, working to cut and remove the tree to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

Meanwhile, teams from the Cyprus electricity authority (CPA) are on their way to restore power to the affected area. Authorities have warned that the weather continues to pose a risk to public safety. Police and local officials are urging residents and visitors to exercise caution when travelling, as strong winds and heavy rain persist.

The storm’s impact highlights the challenges posed by severe weather in the region, with more disruption expected throughout the evening. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
