Police on Thursday are investigating a fire in a private vehicle in Astromeritis, which broke out overnight.

According to fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis, the Nicosia service shortly before midnight responded with two staffed fire engines and extinguished the fire in a car parked in the yard of the owner’s home

The vehicle suffered damage to the engine compartment from the flames.

According to Kettis, the fire department responded to 26 incidents, of which 14 fires and 12 special services in the last 24 hours.
