Thursday will be partly cloudy and at times overcast with isolated rains and snow expected in the higher mountains. Temperatures will rise to 12C degrees inland, 15C on the coast, and around 1C in the higher mountains, where frost will prevail. Winds will be north-westerly to north-easterly, initially light to moderate, up to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily up to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be rough.
Overnight increased clouds will be observed, bringing light rain and a chance of snow in the higher mountains. Temperatures will drop to 4C inland, 6C on the coast, and -4C in the higher mountains. Winds will continue north-westerly to north-easterly, weak to moderate, up to 4 Beaufort, and at times strong, up to 5 Beaufort. The sea will remain rough.
Friday is expected to be mainly clear with light rain in the mountains while on Saturday and Sunday clear skies and some localised clouds are forecast.
Temperatures will significantly increase through Sunday climbing back up to seasonal norms.
The depth of snow at 5am was 3cm in Troodos Square and 4cm in Chionistra.
Due to the snowfall roads from Kavrvounas, Platres and Prodromos to Troodos are open only to vehicles equipped with snow chains or four-wheel drive, police announced.
