The Bank of Cyprus, always committed to its customers and society, has taken another important step toward universal inclusion by introducing new cards with distinctive notches to improve service accessibility.

The new cards are not merely a creative change, but a significant accessibility upgrade. Their goal is to assist blind or visually-impaired customers in recognising and correctly placing their cards at ATMs or any other point of service for immediate and secure use.

Specifically, the new debit Visa and Mastercard cards will feature a circular notch in one corner, while credit Mastercard cards will have a squared notch. These features enable individuals with limited vision to distinguish between cards through touch, enhancing their independence at any transaction point.

Affected cards include:

  • Mastercard Credit / Mastercard Debit / Mastercard Business Credit / Mastercard Platinum Credit
  • Visa Debit (OCEAN) / Visa Youth Debit Yellow / Visa Youth Debit Pink / Visa Gold Debit / Visa Debit Business

“This is a significant step for the benefit of our customers and society, which we must make as inclusive as possible,” noted Katerina Economidou, Cards Department Manager at the Bank of Cyprus. “The Bank of Cyprus’ new notched cards will contribute to better, equitable service for customers, with respect to their needs—something that has always been our utmost priority.”
