The Nicosia District Court issued an eight-day remand order on Friday against a 32-year-old man, who was arrested for facilitating interrogations regarding ongoing cases of robbery and extortion of money by false pretenses.
The suspect is being investigated for three cases, namely extortion on March 13 and 16, and a robbery on March 20.
Police said a complaint was filed on March 20 that a 54-year-old had received a phone call from a fast-food restaurant manager in Nicosia to pick up and deliver an order to a customer who only had notes of €100.
According to the complaint, when he delivered the order to the alleged customer, the customer grabbed the €50 note that was to be given as change and then punched him in the shoulder and fled.
In the course of investigations, a testimony was obtained against the 32-year-old, who was subsequently arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
