The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Cyprus Trade Centre in Berlin, participated in the PROWEIN 2025 international wine and spirits exhibition for the fourth consecutive year.

The event took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from March 16-18, 2025, with Cyprus represented by nine wineries under a national pavilion.

According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the Cypriot wineries highlighted the uniqueness of the island’s indigenous grape varieties while showcasing a diverse selection of wines.

The statement mentioned that “a new feature at this year’s pavilion was a dedicated tasting area for commandaria, Cyprus’ renowned dessert wine”.

It added that the tasting area “attracted significant attention from visitors eager to learn about its characteristics and historical significance directly from the winemakers”.

Beyond promoting their products, the Cypriot wineries “engaged in key business meetings with existing and potential partners, strengthening commercial ties and expanding their market presence”.

The initiative received a boost with the visit of Maria Papakyriakou, ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Germany, who engaged with exhibitors to discuss both the opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

Moreover, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry “reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Cypriot businesses in expanding their global reach“.

It stated that “participation in major international exhibitions, such as PROWEIN, plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of Cypriot wineries in new markets“.

It should be noted that PROWEIN has been held annually since 1994 and is widely regarded as the most significant wine trade fair worldwide.

The 2025 edition attracted approximately 42,000 visitors from 128 countries and featured 4,191 exhibitors from 65 nations, solidifying its status as a premier platform for industry professionals.
