A software programme that alerts about suspicious betting activity before a match will be provided free of charge to the Ethics and Protection of Sports Committee by the corresponding Greek committee, it was announced on Wednesday.
The software creates a database that can be continuously updated and linked to a business intelligence (BI) tool on the government’s G Cloud.
Cyprus will be able to customise the software to its needs and include the sports it wishes to monitor.
The Cypriot committee has prepared a bundle of proposals to amend the existing legislative framework, which will now have to pass from inspection and be sent to the House.
The amendments will allow the committee to operate more effectively and include provisions for the rights of athletes.
