Prisoners in the central prisons will be allowed an additional family visit over the Easter weekend, authorities announced on Thursday. The initiative aims to foster closer family ties during the holiday period.

The department of prisons confirmed that inmates who wish to receive an extra visit may do so without the need for a standard visit permit. However, visitors must present a valid identity card or passport upon entry.

The extra visiting hours will be available on Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday, from 8am to 1pm. Each visit will be limited to 30 minutes.

Family members wishing to schedule their visit must contact the prison administration in advance by calling 22406257 or 22406258.

The prison authorities have also clarified that no clothing deliveries will be accepted during these dates. The only exception applies to newly admitted prisoners arriving on April 17.

This temporary measure is part of a broader effort to support prisoners’ well-being and maintain family connections, particularly during significant religious celebrations.
