Two people, aged 23 and 16, were arrested for allegedly breaking into a primary school and causing damage of about €500 to classrooms and equipment in Limassol on Thursday night.

Police arrived at the scene after the school’s alarm system was triggered. Upon arrival, they detected smoke and the smell of burning.

Damage was reported to two classrooms, a toilet, flowerbeds and rubbish bins.

The suspects were searched and found to be in possession of a pocketknife, a small amount of fuel and various items stolen from the school.

During questioning, both suspects admitted to the charges of burglary, setting fire to the school’s facilities and stealing items.

Limassol police are continuing investigations into the case.
