A 16-year-old was remanded in court on Sunday after he was found with two wooden bats at a football stadium, and lied to officers about his identify.
He was arrested a day earlier when police received reports of a group of individuals outside the stadium carrying wooden bats outside the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium in Paphos, ahead of the football match between Paphos FC and Omonia Nicosia.
At around 6pm, officers at the scene saw the teen throwing two wooden bats under a vehicle, in an attempt to hide them. When questioned, he lied to officers about who he was.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was a 16-year-old, who was subsequently arrested taken into custody for questioning.
On Sunday morning, he was remanded at Paphos District Court for one day.
